Attention, coffee-lovers: This year's biggest trend in home decorating is perfect for you. Say hello to your personal coffee station at home!

The most stylish homes have triumphed over quarantines by having their own dedicated coffee corner in the kitchen or dining room. This way, home-dwellers can satisfy their caffeine craving without the need to head out to a coffeeshop. This is one interior design trend that's both chic and practical, so if you're interested in having your own at-home coffee bar, read on for examples and a step-by-step guide.

Why Have a Coffee Area at Home?

We know, we know -- you can just make coffee anywhere in the kitchen, right? While that may be true, there are some practical and aesthetic advantages to creating a coffee corner.

For one, all your coffee-making ingredients and paraphernalia are organized in one place. That is exactly how they should be when you're groggy in the morning and just want a good cup of joe.

Plus, practical reasons aside, a well-styled coffee bar ups the cozy factor in your home. Just imagine: a mini-café in your house, looking perfectly rustic and filling the space with the warm aroma of your favorite brew. It's a slice of heaven.

At-Home Coffee Bar Examples and Inspiration

How would you like your coffee corner to look and feel? You can style it like your friendly neighborhood coffeeshop, filled with rustic-industrial decor:

Or maybe you want a light and homey farmhouse coffee corner:

How about a cozy nook made to look like you're in a woodsy cabin? (Perfect for winter days!)

You can even turn your coffee corner into a full-on breakfast bar:

And if you're low on space, no worries. Simply arrange your brewing essentials on a nice food tray for a small yet sweet coffee spot:

How to Create a Coffee Nook at Home: Step by Step

1. Pick a spot.

Whether you have a spacious kitchen or a petite dining space, what you want is a flat, even surface for your coffee materials and coffee-making. Get creative: maybe that closet space just needs sprucing up to become an at-home café, or maybe there's wall space above your counter for some pretty floating shelves. Some homes even repurpose their bar carts, turning them into coffee carts!

If nothing else, do like our previous example and just assign a coffee-making tray that can go on any tabletop!

2. Arrange your items.

Start with the bulkier equipment like your espresso machine, French press, Moka pot, or the like. Then arrange your other materials and ingredients around it. Don't forget to include your favorite mugs and stirrers!

Place all these in a way that makes sense in your coffee-making routine. Think about what you reach for first, what objects are used together, and how often you use them.

Bonus tip: If you find that the space isn't enough for your materials, see if you can 'downsize' them. For example, you don't have to display a huge bag of coffee beans there. Scoop some into a cute mason jar that can fit nicely in your coffee spot.

3. Decorate!

The most fun part is decorating your coffee bar! Since there's going to be a lot of activity at this corner of your house, pick accents that aren't fragile and don't get in the way of your brewing. A jar of dried flowers and a tea light candle can be enough to highlight the coziness of the spot (like the example above from the Psyche blog).

You can also opt to add a small potted plant for natural vitality:

Better yet, focus your decor on the wall for hassle-free yet attractive style. Check out these wall art pieces that are perfect for your coffee corner:

4. Optional: Set up seating.

Want to make your coffee spot even cozier? Add some cushy seats to turn it into a coffeeshop-style lounge! Set up some bar stools for a stylish drinking experience, a small couch for hosting a friend, or a rug and some comfy beanbags for your own alone time. Now all you need is a pile of good books!
