Who says home decorating is hard? Okay, to be fair, professional interior designers study for years to perfect their craft -- and rightly so! -- but the rest of us can still cop a trick or two from beautifully decorated homes. Activate your eye for style and you'll notice that in home decor shows and magazines, there are specific 'formulas' to stylishly combine furniture, decor, and accessories.
Here are some foolproof decor combos that you can easily try in your own space. We've included examples, too, so read on and be inspired!
Best for: Hallways, entryways, and random blank walls
Let's start with a classic decor combo. Push your favorite console table up on a wall, then hang a proportionate wall art above it. Now add a nice, lush indoor plant. It can be either a tall potted plant, which you'll place on the floor next to the console, or a little tabletop green that can go on the console surface.

Best for: Entryways, mudrooms, or foyers
Entrance zones in your home need to be practical, with storage for outdoor clothes and a place to take off your shoes. So place your coat hanger and shoe rack on one corner, then add a bench next to them. Even better, use a bench that doubles as storage. Next, hang a wall mirror over the bench to give you a last look before you head out. Finally, if space allows, add an indoor plant to liven up this functional space.
Best for: Living room, family den, sitting room, and office
Got a large bookcase that's the focal point of the room? Make sure it's a pleasure to look at.
First, arrange your books according to your preference, but don't cram them in the shelves. Leave some occasional vacant spaces in between to let your eyes 'breathe.' In these blank spaces, add a few framed photos to personalize the shelf and add variety. Top it all off with a curio or two, like a figurine, a vintage camera, some small ceramics, or any tchotchke you'd like to display.

Best for: Dining rooms and breakfast nooks
To instantly elevate your dining set, hang a lovely artwork on the wall next to it, then top the table with a vase of flowers. They don't even have to be an expensive bouquet from the flower shop. Pick some florals from your garden or grab some clean, dry twigs and put them on a tall clear jar. Looks classy!

Best for: Master bedrooms and guest bedrooms
A symmetrical bedroom design helps create a calm, restful environment. To achieve this, center your bed up against your favorite wall. Add two nightstands -- one on each side -- and decorate them in the same manner. Complete the look by displaying a wall art over your headboard.

Best for: Kitchen storage, office storage, home library, basements, and kids' rooms
If you have wall-mounted open shelving, you'll want to use it as a functional storage unit without making it look like an eyesore. So first, install some soft warm lighting inside the shelves to make them exhibit-ready. Next, curate your functional items to display, and arrange them tidily on those shelves. Then, to make the look more intentional, add a couple of pictures or artwork between the everyday items.

Best for: Reading nook or home bar
Got some extra floor space? Turn it into a cozy book nook or cocktail corner.
First, position a cushioned armchair diagonally against the corner. This angle gives it a freer, more casual feel as opposed to placing the chair flush against the wall. Add a floor lamp right next to the chair. Finally, on the other side of the chair, place a small cabinet or shelf unit filled with your favorite books or drinks. If you're opting for cocktails, you can also use a bar cart instead of a cabinet.
